UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Subaeratus, 20 mm, 3.47 g, 11 h), 'Plated Group'. Imitating Probus, 276-282. ƆHHSNИT∾ƆIIIISIIOII Laureate bust of Probus to right in imperial mantle. Rev. ƆIIRCOOIIR∾ƆR Securitas seated left, holding scepter in her right hand and leaning her head on her left; between her back and the throne, palm branch. Aurum Barbarorum II, 1912 var. (same obverse die, but differing reverse legend). A lovely piece with unusually well preserved gold plating. Holed and with some minor breaks in plating, otherwise, about extremely fine.
